iono Documentation - Product Versions
iono is designed with selling software in mind and supports versions for your products. This allows you to make certain downloads available to certain versions and certain versions available only to certain licenses and extras. For example you could have a special version of your product which can only be accessed if you purchase a certain optional extra.
By default a version is not available to any license or extra which means you must explicitly select the licenses and extras that you wish a version to be available to. This is recursive so any downloads that are available to the version will also be made available to any licenses or extras selected.
In addition, iono supports version integration so you can perform a check within your own product to make sure the user is running the latest version. If you have several product versions added then you can set one of them to be the "Latest" and update your customers. This is done by clicking on Make Latest next to the version on the manage products screen.
Click the Add Version link from the sub-menu to get to the add version page. You will then need to fill out the following fields.
Version Details
- Version - This is the actual version number, usually something like 1.1.0, 4.1.9.1 or 2.0.0-beta1.
- Parent Product - This value will default to the product you are currently managing and cannot be changed
- Released - The date that this version was released, for informational purposes. Use the format mm/dd/yyyy or leave blank if the version has not yet been released yet.
- Latest? - If this will be the latest version release, tick this box.
Available To
This specifies which licenses and/or extras the downloads attached to this version will be available to. This allows you to give licenses and/or extras access to specific versions of a product only, as explained above. Select the licenses and extras from the list boxes. You can select more than 1 by holding Ctrl on your keyboard and clicking several.
